We are all different but we walk all together

Osnovna škola Glina from September, 2019 untill August, 2022 will participate in a Erasmus+ project "We are all different but we walk all together". In this project our school will work with 2 more primary schools from Spain and Portugal.

The main goal of this project is the need to expand teaching methodology with new aspects that develop inclusiveness in the classroom and develop internationalization actions. The objectives of the project are to promote inclusive education by reinforcing the European dimension of teaching; to enhance knowledge of the history and cultural heritage of other countries in order to value and respect it and to reinforce the methodology of each participating school by introducing innovative aspects that improve the teaching - learning processes. The methodology will be based on learning how to learn and it is focused on the students. They will develop tasks of cooperative and collaborative work through relevant topics and research work will be carried out.

All the students from the three schools will take part in the activities programmed for the two project years and will benefit from this experience which will be coordinated virtually through the eTwinning platform. One of the activities that serves as a logbook for the students is the "Travel Diary" where all the experiences and learnings will be collected. Small number of students from each school will participate in the mobilities to Spain and Portugal and students from both countires will visit our school.

This partnership represents a great personal enrichment for all participants and an exchange of knowledge with other educational realities thus promoting inclusive education to reinforce the European dimension of teaching and learning. By acquiring knowledge of the history and cultural heritage from other countries, in order to value and respect it, we are promoting the development of key competences in a globalised way and through a unique experience. By participating in this experience we are forming our students as European citizens, who think in a European way, who value and respect the linguistic and cultural diversity of different countries in an experiential way.

Cooperative learning using ICT

Cooperative learning is the process of breaking a classroom of students into small groups so they can discover a new concept together and help each other learn. Cooperative learning is based on group work, but it’s also so much more than that. The core element of cooperative learning is to showcase the positive effects of interdependence while underlining the importance of personal responsibility. This happens naturally in cooperative learning since students work with one another, but they all have a different task to accomplish or concept to explain.

PROJECT ACTIVITY

Continuous story

Continuous story is a great way to encourage reluctant writers and a great source of inspiration. When used in the classroom, this is a great writing activity to improve your student’s creativity, teamwork, communication and writing skills.

It is an interactive group story-telling activity in which one person starts a story and then passes a ball to the next person to continue it. It’s the perfect way to make story time a less one-sided pursuit, and help your kids flex their own storytelling skills.

Using ICT students will write 3 stories, each containing 6 chapters. Stories will have drawings to illustrate the actions. eBooks will be created at the end of the activity.

During the mobility to Croatia one story will be transformed into theatre. Theatre play will be presented and recorded by camera.

From the beginning to the end students will have to work together using cooperative learning skills and methods so the task is successfully accomplished at the end.

Final stories can be found in the attachment below.
